B: I hope you told him that he’s barking up the wrong tree.

A: John이 계속해서 다단계를 함께 하자고 계속 조르고 있어.

B: 난 그에게 헛다리 짚지 말라고 얘기 해줬으면 해.

badger (someone) : 상대방에게 뭔가를 계속 물어보거나 조르다.

bark up the wrong tree : 어떤 상황을 잘못 짚다/엉뚱한 사람을 비난하다.
