A: Last week my friend was diagnosed with a very invasive type of cancer. By the time it was discovered in her throat, it had invaded several other places in her body.

B: I’m sorry. It is difficult to watch a friend suffer like that.

A: 지난주에 내 친구가 전염성이 강한 암에 걸렸다는 진단을 받았어요. 그것이 그녀 목에서 발견되었을 때, 몸의 다른 곳까지 깊게 전이되어있었데요.

B: 유감스럽군요. 친구가 그렇게 고통스러워하는 걸 보는 것은 어려운 일이에요.

invasive : invade라는 단어에서 나왔고 ‘침략침입하다’ 이다. 침입해서 해를 끼치고 공격하고 무너트리는 게 invade이다. invasive라는 단어는 안으로 퍼져 들어와서 피해를 주고 공격하고 모든 뜻을 함축하고 있다고 생각하면 된다.
